Leep vs Oura Ring 5

An honest look at sleep, health and women's health tracking

How the subscription-free Leep Ring compares with Oura Ring 5 (and the still-available Ring 4) on cost, features, cycle tracking and battery life

Written by Leep. We make the Leep Ring, so we stick to published specs and prices, link our sources and say where the other device is the better choice.

Leep vs Oura Ring 5

The short answer

Oura Ring 5 does more, especially for women's health: cycle and period predictions, a CE-marked fertile window, Natural Cycles birth control, pregnancy and menopause insights, plus blood-pressure and breathing signals. Almost all of it needs an Oura Membership (£5.99 a month or £69.99 a year) on top of the £399 ring. The Leep Ring costs £199 once, with every feature and a charging case included, and covers sleep, heart rate, HRV, blood oxygen and temperature. Choose Oura for the widest feature set; choose Leep to track your sleep without paying every month.

Leep vs Oura is one of the most common questions we hear from people choosing a smart ring. Both rings track sleep, heart rate, HRV, blood oxygen and temperature from your finger, and both last around a week on a charge. Oura Ring 5, launched in May 2026, is Oura's flagship; Ring 4 is still on sale at reduced prices. Oura offers far more, particularly for women's health, but it needs a monthly membership. The Leep Ring is a one-off £199 with everything included.

Here is an honest look at how they compare as of October 2026. If you want a subscription-free ring with more features, also see Leep vs RingConn Gen 3 and Leep vs Ultrahuman Ring PRO.

Leep Ring

our device

The Leep Ring is a British-designed titanium smart ring built around better sleep. It tracks sleep, heart rate, HRV, blood oxygen (SpO2), skin temperature, activity and stress. It costs £199 ($199 in the US) as a one-time payment, and every feature in the free Leep app is included. It weighs 2.5–6 g depending on size, is 2.22 mm at its thinnest and lasts up to 8 days, with a charging case in the box that holds 60+ days of backup power.

Oura Ring 5

Oura Ring 5 is Oura's newest ring, shipping since June 2026. It is smaller and lighter than Ring 4: 6.09 mm wide, 2.28 mm thick and from about 2 g, in titanium, waterproof to 100 m, and it lasts 6–9 days on a charge. It costs £399 in Silver or Black and £499 in premium finishes ($399–$499 in the US), and full features need an Oura Membership at £5.99 a month or £69.99 a year. Oura Ring 4 is still sold, launched at £349 and now often discounted; it lasts 5–8 days and weighs 3.3–5.2 g.

What Leep does

Leep is built sleep-first. Sleep is the foundation of how you feel each day, so everything the ring tracks is designed to help you understand your nights and what affects them. Sleep insights follow World Sleep Society guidelines and focus on trends over time. A single night's number rarely tells you much, but a week of patterns can.

Leep's biggest difference is price. The Leep Ring costs £199 once, and that's it. There are no monthly fees, no paid tiers and no features locked behind a membership. Everything in the Leep app is included from day one, so you never have to keep paying to see your own health data.

The ring is designed to be worn 24/7 without getting in the way. It's made from aerospace-grade titanium with a hypoallergenic resin lining, and it's just 2.22 mm at its thinnest. Leep syncs with Apple Health and Google Fit, so your activity and workout data can feed into your sleep insights.

What Oura Ring 5 does

Oura takes a whole-day, whole-health approach. Alongside its Sleep and Readiness scores, Oura Ring 5 tracks 24/7 heart rate, HRV, blood oxygen and temperature trends, daytime stress and resilience, and automatically detects 40+ activities. It estimates Cardiovascular Age and Cardio Capacity (VO2 max), and Symptom Radar flags signs that your body is under strain, such as an oncoming cold. Health Radar, now available in the UK, adds blood-pressure signals (patterns rather than readings) and night-time breathing disturbances.

Women's health is one of Oura's biggest strengths, and something Leep doesn't offer. Cycle Insights tracks your cycle phases from temperature and predicts periods up to 12 months ahead. Fertile Window, a CE-marked regulated feature available in the UK and US, shows a seven-day fertile window and confirms ovulation a few days afterwards. Oura works with Natural Cycles, an FDA-cleared birth control app (which needs its own subscription as well as Oura's). There are also Pregnancy Insights and Menopause Insights for ages 35–60. All of these need the membership.

Oura works on a hardware-plus-membership model. Without the membership you see only your three daily scores. Over three years, Ring 5 plus membership comes to about £609 (£399 plus £69.99 a year), or more with a premium finish or the £99 charging case.

Who should choose Leep

The Leep Ring suits anyone who wants solid sleep and health tracking without signing up to another subscription. If you're trying to sleep better, manage stress or understand how your habits affect your nights, Leep gives you trend-based insights built around World Sleep Society guidelines. It's a strong fit if you're budget-conscious: at £199 with no fees, it costs less in year one than Oura Ring 5 does before its membership even starts. If you're also weighing up a fitness band, see Leep vs WHOOP.

Who should choose Oura Ring 5

Oura Ring 5 is the better choice for anyone who wants women's health tracking: cycle phases, period predictions, a regulated fertile window, Natural Cycles birth control, and pregnancy and menopause insights are all things Leep doesn't do. It also suits people who want the widest range of health signals, from Cardiovascular Age to blood-pressure and breathing patterns, in a very light ring that's waterproof to 100 m. Just factor in the full cost: £399 or more for the ring, plus £5.99 a month or £69.99 a year for as long as you use it. If you want Oura for less, Ring 4 is still on sale at reduced prices.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Leep Ring cheaper than Oura?

Yes. The Leep Ring costs £199 as a one-time payment, with the app and every feature included. Oura Ring 5 costs £399 in Silver or Black and £499 in premium finishes, and full features need an Oura Membership at £5.99 a month or £69.99 a year. Over three years that's about £609 for Ring 5 and membership, compared with £199 for Leep. Oura Ring 4 is still sold, launched at £349 and is often discounted.

Does Oura need a subscription?

For almost everything, yes. Without an Oura Membership you only see your three daily scores (Sleep, Readiness and Activity). The membership costs £5.99 a month or £69.99 a year, with one free month for new members. The Leep Ring has no subscription: every feature is included in the £199 price.

Does Oura track periods and fertility? Does Leep?

Oura does, with a membership. Cycle Insights predicts periods up to 12 months ahead, Fertile Window is a CE-marked feature that shows a seven-day fertile window and confirms ovulation, and Oura works with Natural Cycles, an FDA-cleared birth control app. It also offers Pregnancy and Menopause Insights. The Leep Ring does not offer cycle, fertility, pregnancy or menopause tracking.

Which ring has the longer battery life?

They are similar. Oura Ring 5 lasts 6–9 days and Ring 4 lasts 5–8 days. The Leep Ring lasts up to 8 days and comes with a charging case that holds 60+ days of backup power. Oura's charging case is an optional £99 extra holding up to five charges.

What's the difference between Oura Ring 5 and Ring 4?

Oura Ring 5 (May 2026) is smaller and lighter: 2.28 mm thick and from about 2 g, against 2.88 mm and 3.3–5.2 g for Ring 4. It lasts 6–9 days instead of 5–8 and is IP68 waterproof to 100 m. It comes in sizes 6–13 (Ring 4: 4–15) and stores about 3 days of data without syncing (Ring 4: about 7). Both need the same membership for full features.

Which smart ring is better for sleep tracking?

Both rings estimate sleep stages and track heart rate, HRV, blood oxygen and temperature overnight. Oura adds night-time breathing and blood-pressure signals with its membership. Leep's sleep insights follow World Sleep Society guidelines and focus on trends over time rather than single-night figures. The two rings have not been tested head to head, so the main differences for most people are the extra features and the cost.

Can I use Oura or Leep for contraception?

Not on their own. Oura's Fertile Window is not contraception, but Oura works with Natural Cycles, an FDA-cleared birth control app that Natural Cycles says is 93% effective with typical use; you need both a Natural Cycles subscription and an Oura Membership. The Leep Ring does not support cycle tracking or Natural Cycles.

Can I buy the Leep Ring in the UK and return it if it doesn't suit me?

Yes. The Leep Ring ships from the UK with free UK delivery, and you have 30 days from receipt to return it. UK returns come with a pre-paid label, and refunds are processed within 5–10 working days of the ring reaching Leep. Oura also offers 30-day returns on rings bought from its own store.
